Spatio-Temporal Variations of Ecosystem Water Use Efficiency and Its Drivers in Southwest China

Water use efficiency (WUE) has garnered considerable attention at global and regional levels. However, spatio-temporal variations of WUE related influencing factors in the complex karst landforms southwest China require further elucidation. Herein, ratio gross primary productivity (GPP) to evapotranspiration (ET) obtained through PML-V2 product was used characterize ecosystem WUE, responses temperature, precipitation, enhanced vegetation index (EVI) China. The results showed that: (1) decreased with increasing latitude altitude. Spatially, fluctuates a “W” pattern longitude because landforms’ distribution patterns. (2) non-significant trend increased during 2003–2017 may be associated significant increases ET offsetting part GPP contribution WUE. Spatial changes is similar owing dominant role (3) multi-year average lower than non-karst landforms; however, restoration projects have contributed significantly variation rate that landforms. (4) Temperature, EVI were generally positively correlated important for increase characterized indicators ecological engineering construction study area effective factor change 59.59% area. this are understanding carbon water cycling processes regions.
